The Mūlā New Moon: Nirṛti, and the Power of Quiet Collapse

On December 19th, in the presence of Mars and Venus, the Moon merges with the Sun in Sagittarius, the storehouse of energetic transformation.

Four planets gather in the natural ninth house of fire and testing, channelling the energy of Mūlā nakshatra.

Ruled by the goddess Nirrti connected to Dhumavati, the force of chaos and dissolution. Her home vast black hole within Sagittarius, a place where everything offered is accepted without refusal. Awakening a cycle that calls us back to the root. The root of our fear as well as the root of our inspiration.

Challenging us to build from our core and not the surface. To anchor ourselves in something meaningful and wholeheartedly. Where raw energy brews.

Kicking off a cycle of quiet collapse that makes way for a new path, immersing us in the dark soil in which life dissolves and grows. The void before creation and the wisdom that comes through letting go.

Nirrti’s alluring black skin and golden aura symbolise the boons of awakening that arise when we arrive fully at our origin and release what binds us.

This is the time of year is a natural season of transition, in which we are not meant to push, but to brew, to be cosy, to nurture our system and let things naturally fall away.

In Ayurveda, it is said that when we don't take the rest in winter, we set ourselves up for exhaustion in the spring.

Allow yourself to grow quietly and be unburdened, honouring the wisdom that arises and letting it guide you across your own threshold of change.
