There are always two ends to an eclipse; the first of the two is the early blessed step, led by Aja Eka Pada.
The eclipsed Moon on September 7th falls in Purva Bhadrapada, one of the eleven Rudras, fierce aspects of Shiva. It is the lightning strike, the sudden flash of insight, a recognition of what was once hidden.
Mercury, opposite the eclipse, connected to Ketu and the Sun, digs deep, revealing some compelling answers and insights, bringing forth key information. A revelation of sorts. Ketu brings up the past in the face of the Sun and Mercury to be dealt with.
The full aspect of Jupiter on the eclipse blesses and protects, helping to integrate what is revealed. Jupiter, though giving his blessing, wants to shake things up. Where are we holding power, and where are we distributing power? Where are we discovering our power? Where is the void of power? And what knowledge do we really hold?
Rahu, the shadow creating the eclipse, gives us a glimpse into the future and a recognition of the vastness of our possibilities before us. The first of the pair of eclipses focuses on what we are opening up to, what we are becoming aware of and what we are working towards. Where are we channelling and directing our power?
What makes this pair of eclipses so very special is that they come under two significant periods, the Pitru Paksha (divine ancestors) and Navatri (9 nights of Shakti). The review and release of the past as we honour it, and the seed and fire of new action. Bringing in a greater intensity to the next several weeks.
A period of facing some of our most difficult experiences and integrating them so we may become fuller beings. We may find unresolved traumas resurfacing, calling for our attention. This could externally manifest as sudden, unexplainable symptoms or intense feelings, a call to let an old part of ourselves die and allow new knowledge to be born.
