The Blade of Awareness Taurus New Moon in Kṛttikā

The New Moon in Taurus arrives in the lunar mansion of Krttika, ruled by Agni, on May 16th.

Krttika’s symbol is a blade that cuts with precision, discernment, and clear perception. To sever what is no longer flourishing, a removal of the excess.

Igniting a fortnight of lessons in refinement, purification, and clarity. Agni, the sacred fire, is the intermediary between human consciousness and universal consciousness. Fire digests, witnesses, transforms, and reveals.

What has remained hidden may begin to rise to the surface through friction, tension, and confrontation. Not as punishment, but as revelation. A clearing of space for a new beginning.

Reactions now can arise quickly, and speech can carry sharpness or impatience. There can be a strong impulse to sever ties, move on abruptly, judge too soon, or force outcomes before clarity has fully emerged.

Mars in Aries intensifies the instinct, while Saturn’s heavy aspect to the Sun, Moon, and Mercury brings weighted responsibility and accountability, and an unavoidable confrontation with truth.

Just keep in mind, allow what is dissolving to dissolve. Become aware like a flame illuminating a room, and be your witness to change.

Speaking less may reveal more. Listening more deeply may expose what is truly happening beneath the surface. We rarely know the full struggles of others. We barely take time to know ourselves. Practice compassion and grace and allow them to speak to you and for you.

With the Moon in Taurus and Venus and Jupiter 2nd from the new Moon, focus attention toward values, finances, relationships, nourishment, lifestyle, and the practical structures of daily life.

What habits, attachments, reactions, or patterns have become clutter? What are we aligning ourselves with through our habits?

This New Moon also coincides with Sani Amavasya, the sacred day honouring the birth of Lord Saturn. Saturn remains one of the most misunderstood grahas. He is not a punishment. He is the consequence and responsibility of our own creation. He is a reflection of our own fortitude and endurance. He is the measurement of our karma, serving it to us to eat and digest. If you don't enjoy it, stop cooking the same meal….

Saturn is linked with Goddess Kali, the great devourer who cuts through illusion with uncompromising truth. Saturn is also an ardent devotee of Lord Shiva.

Lord Śani strips away illusion to reveal what is eternal. Though his lessons may arrive through delay, pressure, or hardship, Saturn never truly denies. When aligned with truth and integrity, his blessings are immense and enduring.

May what is false fall away, and may what is eternal remain.
