The Universe sings a song using patterns and rhythms, our time is cyclic, it comes with chapters and chord changes (dasha) and with those patterns, come changes to the pulse and beat of the rhythm that is being played.
In the Jyothisha the planets are called ‘’Graha’’ which translates to ‘’seizing’’ a far clearer description of their interaction with us. We are truly gripped by their influence, but we are equally freed by integrating their awareness. Each planet rules an area of space, as well as having areas of space that support its duty, a place that welcomes it, tolerates it and other places that diminish its power. Each planet has a unique job and requires resources to fulfill their tasks, without the resource it creates a struggle and a weakness.

Each planet describes the various parts of your consciousness being activated. Where a planet is placed is the area of your chart is where they consciously awaken your focus, animating this area with energy, lessons and rewards.
Each planet has their own natural nature such as Benefic and Malefic, they rule different areas of your chart as well as have a unique function in your personal where it can turn a benefic planet into a functional malefic. The words used to describe them are ‘’good or negative’’ but this completely misses the point and is quite superficial. This only serves to put an earthly view on it and has nothing to do with the cosmos.
One would think that a Benefic is more with ease and less struggle. More smooth with its influence and Malifc requires more effort from us it carries more tension. Yet if you put Venus, a Benefic planet, into a tough house like the 6th, it can bring negative results where the toughness of a Malefic is needed to succeed.
Whether it is one or the other determines the intensity of the experience both can bring healing or a needed shift.
In addition to the planet's nature they also are imbued with three primal energies of the Gunas Sattva, Rajas and Tamas in fact, everything in nature has a combination of these three Gunas qualities in different combinations, they are necessary for everything.
